The steps

  1. Take your time. Leave the money in an account while you think. There is no rush.
  2. Review your plans. Home, family, retirement, passing on your wealth: what you will need, and when.
  3. Keep a reserve. Enough to cope with the unexpected without having to cash in investments at the wrong moment.
  4. Choose an allocation. Depending on your time horizon and your tolerance for falls: stock market, gold, pension savings.
  5. Invest, then monitor. All at once or gradually, with a review at least once a year.

Common mistakes

  • Investing everything at once, on the recommendation of someone close to you or an advert.
  • Forgetting taxes: tax on withdrawing pension capital, wealth tax, inheritance and gift tax.
  • Not deciding anything: leaving the money in an account for years, without a plan.

What I do for you

We lay out the figures: what you will need, when, and what you can invest for the long term. I propose a written allocation, with its risks and costs, and a timetable for investing gradually if that suits you better. You decide.

Frequently asked questions

Should I invest everything straight away?

Not necessarily. Investing in several stages reduces the risk of going in at the wrong moment, at the cost of taking longer. The choice depends on your time horizon and your tolerance for falls.

How much should I keep available?

Enough to cover the spending planned for the coming years, plus a reserve for the unexpected. The rest can be invested according to your time horizon.

What about taxes?

Pension capital is taxed separately from income when it is withdrawn. After that, like the rest of your wealth, it is subject to wealth tax every year. The exact rules depend on your situation: we look at them together, with a tax specialist if needed.
