The main families

  • Shares: a stake in a company. They can grow over the long term, but their value fluctuates sharply, sometimes for years.
  • Bonds: a loan to a state or a company, which pays interest. They are less volatile, but remain exposed to the borrower defaulting and to rising interest rates.
  • Funds and ETFs: a basket of securities in a single holding. They make diversification easier; compare their costs closely.

Your profile first

Before giving advice that takes your portfolio into account, the Financial Services Act (FinSA, LSFin) requires a check of your financial situation, your goals, your knowledge and your experience. It is also common sense: an investment that suits someone else does not necessarily suit you.

Costs matter

Fund management fees, transaction fees, custody fees: each one looks small, but over ten or twenty years they weigh heavily. I show them to you before you decide.

Time and diversification

Spreading your money across several investments and over time does not remove the risk. It limits the effect of a bad choice or bad timing.

What I do

I review your goals, your time horizon and your ability to withstand a fall. I present options to you in writing, with their risks and their costs. You decide, and you stay in control of every transaction.
